Ollie Robinson, the fast bowler from England, unfortunately set a record by giving out the second-highest number of runs in a single over in First-Class cricket. This occurred during a match in the English County Championship between Sussex and Leicestershire on Wednesday.
Most runs conceded off an over
During a single over, Robinson conceded a total of 43 runs, which consisted of three fours and five sixes. In addition, he also delivered three no-balls, all of which were struck for a four by Louis Kimber. This over holds the record for being the most costly in the history of the County Championship.
Undoubtedly, this was the highest tally of runs achieved by a batsman in a solitary over of English first-class cricket.
In 1998, Alex Tudor from Surrey allowed 38 runs in a single over to Andrew Flintoff from Lancashire, setting a record that was equaled recently by Dan Lawrence from Surrey, who was bowled by his England teammate Shoaib Bashir.
