The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will investigate pacer Ishanullah’s elbow injury.
“The PCB has decided to constitute an independent medical board to analyse if the board’s medical support team handled Ihsanullah’s medical case properly,” said PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on his official X account.
The announcement said the medical board of Drs. Javed Akram, Rana Dilawaiz, and Mumraiz Naqshband will also advise on the pacer’s medical care. After surgery last year, the 21-year-old, who made his ODI debut against New Zealand in April 2023, has been out of action for some time.
The pacer will likely need elbow surgery again in England. Sources said the PCB has made all the required arrangements for the pacer’s recovery. So, he will be backed by Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen.
As ESPNcricinfo noted, the PCB’s treatment of the pacer’s injury after its misdiagnosis has raised suspicions.
Also, Ihsanullah was not mistreated, according to PCB’s medical department chief Dr. Sohail Saleem.
“This case was handled properly,” Dr. Saleem told ESPNcricinfo.
“I’ll admit there was a delay [in the initial diagnosis], but no mishandling,” said.
